As proven here.
This Country…this is a great BBC3 series satirising the Cotswolds small village mentality of the young people who live there
It is marvellous and worth a view IMHO

How we used to live!
My kids cannot believe this was our fun back in the day.
Whatever Happened To The Likely Bands?
Those bands that you believed in, and were good, but for some reason never resonated with the masses.
Phil Campbell/White Buffalo, pre his Temperance Movement days, is my choice.
Let the undiscovered fly…
XTC are 40!
A review of their albums has been posted here:

Black Sea is my favourite.
What are the “bedrocks” of musical genres i.e. a song that can define it
AC/DC define hard rock for me.
This is a perfect example.
Black Sabbath define Heavy Metal
OOAA
Genesis Live 1973
A great HD remastered 1 hour concert here for those of us who like this type of thing.
Enjoy!
You know when you are old when…you move on from air guitar and throwing shapes to air drums in a seated position!
I hosted a New Years Eve Party this year and I realised that time has moved on as me and my guests grooved to Chic and Good times on the BBC whilst all sat on the sofa rather than standing up and dancing…drink was not a factor.
It made me think about the years I spent on my knees air guttering to Guns and Roses in my 20/30s at similar events. Times change!
If a Christmas tub of chocolates was music…
I bought a box of Celebrations.
Following a lunch the family opened it whilst I did the washing up. What was left…my favourites!
Bounty and Snickers. I can only conclude, music wise, that the Snickers is the hard rock sweet and Bounty is (soft) Prog. Full on Prog would be a full bar of Raisin and Nut Dark Chocolate eaten over a three hour period.
Alan Parsons Project – Eye in the Sky
What does it sound like?:
This is the sixth album from the Alan Parsons Project and is a very smooth, prog-lite album with some great tunes. It reached number 27 in the UK album charts and is one of their most commercially successful albums.
Sirius (an instrumental) starts the album off before segueing into “Eye in the Sky” which is a catchy pop tune that was a big hit in many countries and features the lead vocals of Eric Woolfson. The overall sound of the album is very laid back with only “You’re Gonna Get Your Fingers Burned” approaching anything near a harder rock sound. The album finished with it’s strongest track “Old and Wise” which is a lovely balled sung by Colin Blunstone looking back on the writers life. Old and Wise was even a minor hit in the UK reaching number 74 in early 1983.
The additional tracks on this release are demo versions of the various tracks and some instrumental version which do not really add much additional value over the original album, which is excellent.
What does it all *mean*?
It is nice to hear how the songs were developed through the additional material but » Continue Reading.

Bon Jovi – love them or hate them they are bloody good at what they do!
I have been a ‘fan” off and on for the last 30 years.
Seen them live a couple of times and really enjoyed sone albums – especially Keep the Faith and Slippery When Wet.
Anyone else want to confess?
Those small moments when you think you have met a fellow lover of the music you like…and then
As I was at the reception desk of an old and faded hotel in Harrogate yesterday enquiring after the exit code for the car park I was told it was 2112.
I looked across at my colleague who smiled knowingly.
“That will be easy for me to remember “he confirmed. I said no more.
As we left I asked about his love of Rush.
“Who are they?” was his response.
After a few awkward moments it was apparent he was born on the 21st December!
Never assume…
Help me understand…what do Conductors in classical music actually do?
Probably not a great example.
But what do they do…

I have just discovered setlist.fm How late am I to the party?
I searched on previous posts on here but the only one that came back with any reference to it was one about Suede from our dearly departed Mr James Blast.
Ian McNabb. Time for a re-appreciation?
The Icicle Works were fantastic and most of his solo work has been excellent as well.
Any other fans here?
