From looking at recent set lists they haven’t played this classic….ironic considering the radio advert trying to sell tickets for Dublin date on Monday has Do it Again as the intro !
Just played this again, and also love them doing To Sir with Love at same gig…
I would be very impressed if I came across a fellow follower of Van’ s great early stuff, equally if they knew, for example,On the Beach or The Poet 2….what would you put down as a marker?
Just thinking that in the space of two weeks I will have seen two of the biggest bands in the world….doesnt happen that often ! I don’t think there are any on the horizon to replace them, albeit Ed Sheeran has just sold loads of tickets for gigs here next year.I am interested to see who you think could sell out stadiums in five years time like U2 and Coldplay can….i used to think Kings of Leon but not so sure these days.
I don’t seem to recall seeing bands play whole albums back in the 1980s when I started going to gigs..anyone fill me in on this trend? BTW would have loved to see Eric Clapton play Layla and other love songs in its entirety…
Just took a journey through the Spotify jungle and put 40 tracks of mainly popular stuff…Osibisa brilliant!
Some reservations about whether this concert took place too soon, but maybe it was the best way to start healing process…not gonna criticise anyone for doing it..RIP
It can only be found on the Dixie Narco EP I think….also remember that the title track to Boat to Bolivia by Martin Stephenson was added later on ,after being a B side only, strange for such a strong track!
I find it strange how some bands have now been tagged as having Guilty Pleasure tracks,in this list are Fleetwood Mac,Counting Crows ,Madness,Madonna and Billy Joel…who decides this stuff??!
As you may have seen I put plenty on the 2 minutes song thread, can we do one for longer tracks, between the 10 and 12 min mark….cheers!
Post others that keep you Rocking in the Free World!
I am a big Santana fan who loves Moonflower and was gutted when Greg Walker left…not a fan of Alex Ligertwood although he has decent range…Greg had soul!
Absolutely LOVE this track….band faded away, any others…it was from Uncut cd ….
The late John Slaughter could certainly play…!Much played track…
One great song melts into another in the live outing of The Pan Within and Because the Night…any more?
I bought this not knowing what it was going to sound like, and years later it stil doesn’t sound like much else! Also bought Treasure by Cocteau Twins purely from seeing them reviewed well in the NME…grew to love it but it took a dozen plays I think before it got to me….
Now I have worked out how to do YouTube clips, love to share this and wonder if other songs have been done in a similar fashion…?
Must have been around 14 when I saw clip of Neil Young playing Like a Hurricane in front of a big wind machine, and have been a fan ever since I got After the Gold rush…but also what about old black and white cartoon to accompany Trampled Underfoot….and Reeling in the Years with Skunk Baxter.
Following a comment regarding Dire Straits first album I was wondering if anyone fell in love with August and Everything After, like I did….?
My tastes go from Van,Eric and Bob through to Aswad,Stanley Clarke, and Chris Barber circa mid 1970s…!Found that The War on Drugs ticked lots of boxes a few years back, would love to get any recommendations of bands,of various genres, that you think are good..!
Further to a comment I put on Steve Winwood thread, what artists are lacking live albums…I saw Prefab Sprout live twice and sounded fine, although can imagine Paddy Macloon wanting perfection!
As it was called a Mini LP ,like Under a Blood Red Sky,I would love to hear more of the tracks recorded by this brilliant band..love the mix of tracks in Rockers Medley on Side two!
Anyone else have fond memories of this, for years I couldn’t find it on CD even though he was a major artist after the success of Higher Love,While you see a chance etc Thanks to Spotify everyone can check it out…maybe someone can post a link as I’m new to this game…thanks!
