Been bugging me for years.
Before the song gets going properly there is one (at least) spoken word. To me it sounds like “Galtieri” but I’m not sure why they’d be writing about an Argentinian General.
Maybe I’ve just got cloth ears.
Musings on the byways of popular culture

Too much pressure to grow up these days.
Without trying to sound like my dad…it is harder being a yoof innit?
I love pottering. I can potter all day. Stuff still gets done but in a slow relaxed way. The current weather helps with potterage…it’s an under appreciated art.
Anyone else like to potter?
Well, for the Championship and Leagues 1 and 2 etc.
My team Ipswich has a new young manager, a host of new lower league signings plus some returning from long term injuries.
We’re everyone’s favourites for relegation. I’m quite excited!
PS The test match against India is fantastic!
….a Les Dawson spesh.
Snork!
…I played this.
Winter Hill by Doves. I love the slightly wonky vocals and bass.
It’ll be here soon.
Are we bothered? How will WE do? Do we care anymore? What’s going on with the Germans (“You wouldn’t bet against them, Gary.”) Will Brazillian’s Hip Priest manager repair the nightmares of the 7-1? Will Panama do an Iceland?
More importantly, has anyone seen a decent wall chart yet?
Morning all.
Last visited in 1989 but me and my best mate are having a long weekend there in July, arriving late on the Friday and leaving Monday.
Saturday evening is sorted as my mate has connections with OMD who just happen to be playing while we’re there.
I remember we went to Dachau all those years ago and would be keen to go again but would also be grateful for some lighter recommendations. We’re both pretty good at bimbling to be honest but we do like beer. And food.
Thanks in advance etc.
Caught the new Johnny Marr track on 6music just. Called Hi , Hello and it’s excellent . “Ooh,” I thought ” that sounds like Dancing Barefoot”..and went off to check out a review.
The first listen: A track-by-track guide to Johnny Marr’s new album, ‘Call The Comet’
“Hi , hello” are also first two words on Frederick by Patti Smith…
My wife has just said, now get this, she wants ME to put HER cd collection on MY iPod.
And I’ve just heard that cricket was brought over here by Flemish Weavers.
No idea why I’ve gone for this particular genre other than I listened to a-ha earlier. So come on , your favourite Scandinavian music, food/drink, person, place.
Doesn’t he look well!?

The Stranglers …There’s always the sun.
Somehow this seems relevant. Their last album was a cracker by the way.
Robbie Williams??
Thanks to the “Greatest female vocalist” thread, I now know Timi Yuro was in fact a female girl.
I’d been aware of the name over the years (of course) but had assumed (“Never assume, always check” was a bit of advice I received in my RAF days which I clearly haven’t followed) Timi was a lad.
It feels good to admit my failings…this is the place for all of you to come clean and tell us all that embarassing fact you’ve been keeping to yourself for fear of ridicule and heartache.
Mine goes to the one in Corbieres, Manchester. Apparently Corbs markets itself as a wine bar or cavern these days. Anyway, the jukebox. Plenty of decent Manc stuff as you’d expect, old and new plus a good selection of other stuff. Presume it’s still there, not been for a couple of years.
Honourable mention to the one in Cask on Liverpool Road.
So who is it going to be?
Favourites currently include Tony Mowbray who is doing pretty well at Blackburn. Can’t see him coming at the moment unless Blackburn don’t make it up.
Danny Cowley from Lincoln. Doubts about his style of play not being “the Ipswich way,” whatever that is these days.
Paul Cook from Wigan. Hmm, interesting. Does he play “the Ipswich way?”
Shefki Kuqi. Heart says yes, head nope.
Steve McClaren. Bit of negativity surrounding him these days.
Mark Warburton at Forest. I wouldn’t mind him. Did well at Brentford but maybe not so well since.
I just hope we don’t get one of the usual suspects. I’m glad Mark Hughes is currently employed! We need someone young, progressive and dynamic to fit in with the clubs ethos. I understand Harry Rednap is available.
“You opened up my heart.”
I know it’s all been done before but I like this.
Looks bad this. How did Steve Smith let this happen?
Jose Mourinho and The Streets were both seen as hip new gunslinger but I reckon they’re looking a bit old fashioned these days. Certainly Chris Sutton thinks Mourinho’s best days are behind him and I heard The Streets on 6Music and thought it sounded a bit lame so I must be correct in linking them together.
Any other vague footie/music hybrids?
They’re supporting the Psychedelic Furs on the 15 June, first night of Robert Smiths Meltdown.
Plus this.

Not sure if I want to fork out £95 for the weekend though!
Predictably, the Fall forums have gone into meltdown.

Someone has donated their dodgy Status Quo vinyl ( By dodgy, I mean things like “Golden Hour of Status Quo” including well known heads down no nonsense mindless boogie tracks called “Umleitung.”) in the Age Uk shop in Ashon on Mersey, Sale.
Mine is on a thread about gigs and it’s actually not that good a memory as I can only remember it partly.
Basically, someone went to a gig and took in a whole goose or turkey or something.
Anyway, your fave Massive Memory?
