Daylight Music #273.
They’ve hired a grand piano specially for these artists.
Poppy Ackroyd and her new album have already been mentioned on this blog. Have a look/listen to the clip from a previous DM appearance to get an idea of what she does.
Other artists on the bill are jazz keyboardist/pianist Charlie Stacey and artist/composer/producer Matt Emery. Clips of them are linked from the Daylight Music Facebook page.
In the interludes between acts, Jim Bishop will be playing an assortment of tunes on the chapel’s magnificent pipe organ.
From 12:00 until about 2:30pm.
Tea, cake and quiche will be available and it’s Pay-What-You-Can on entry (recommended £5).
If you’re awake with no other pressing business at that sort of time on a Saturday and in or near London, you might find it enjoyable.

Hmmm…
I put a link (in the correct box) to DM’s Facebook page in my submission (so you could check out clips from the other two artists) but it seems to have vanished.
Let’s see if it turns up in this comment.

We’ve been to a couple of Daylight Music events and thoroughly enjoyed them both, but it’s all going on in London Saturday afternoon. Laura Marling is playing a small gig at St Giles (as in The Rookery of …) but that’s a charity show in aid of War Child. Much as I would like to go I can’t afford tickets, which is just as well as we’re already going to the matinee of Tosca at the ROH. That last two times LM has played in London we already had tickets for another gig and were away on holiday – I’ll get to see her one day.
Fairport at playing at the Union Chapel on Saturday evening, but we’re skipping that in favour of the train home to Essex as they were patchy when we saw them there last year.

I’ll be at work and about a hundred and fifty miles away, but I bet it’ll be good. I’ve been rinsing her album for the past couple of weeks (inasmuch as one can ‘rinse’ contemporary classical music)

Ooh, nice. That’s exactly the sort of music I like listening to when working on the computers. Might be going to that Bristol tomorrow, so Rough Trade / Fopp, here I come. . .

Just listening to her new album right now, for about the fifth time in as many days. I listened to it on Apple Music the other day, whilst looking for something to listen to whilst on guinea pig cage cleaning duties. It was chosen from the new releases, as I wanted something new and the cover seemed to be the kind of cover that appears on albums I like (I couldn’t think of a better way to choose between the ones I didn’t know!). It’s ace. Like a cheerier version of some of the Icelandic modern classical stuff I’ve been listening to recently.
