Continuing a very occasional theme where I post songs that randomly catch my attention, usually because I haven’t heard them for ages, here’s Mink De Ville: Spanish Stroll. I heard it on the radio yesterday when it brightened my day. Have a good weekend.

Nice choice, Mr bigpicture.
Love the first three Mink Deville albums. There’s such a tremendous mood on them. Such a cool vibe.
Was lucky enough to catch the band a couple of times during the golden era (the Venue, London, July 1980 and Manchester University about 18 months later). What a voice Willy had.
Hey Rosita! Donde vas con mi carro Rosita?

Great song, but it’s a shame some of ol’ Willy D’s other songs aren’t equally well known. Some of his ballads are really good. Like the gorgeous “A” Train Lady (with its great sax).

Rushes off to iPod – haven’t played Willy for years (calling Moose, calling…)

You’ve taken your rushes off? Not surprised . They must be very scratchy.

You have no idea! I sit here in the Languedoc sun now completely rush free. Right, where has Willy gone…?

Heard this on the radio this morning. Loved it since I bought it week of release 1979. “Interesting” video.

Mrs Japanese and I were watching ‘Sounds of the 80s’ last night, and Suzanne Vega was on. It was the only song we didn’t recognise, but we started taking notice of it after realising it was about domestic abuse. Obviously it wasn’t exactly ‘Walking on Sunshine’ but it still grabbed our attention.

Was it “Luka”, possibly?

This week I’ve been dipping into tango music from all over the world (as one does).
Here from Italy is one gem I discovered.
A friend just posted on Facebook that he was at the RFH for a gig by Saint Etienne. I was rather envious. They released a new album today.
Sorry! They dropped a new album today.
No, no, no! It just sounds silly when I say it.
Their new grammophone record is now available in your local record shop.
