Article on the BBC website about ‘hidden’ messages in album artwork – got any others?
Bargepole seems to vaguely recall something about a hidden figure on the inner sleeve of Floyd’s Wish You Were Here album.

Moose the Mooche says
There’s a cock on the front of Second Coming. And 2 Live Crew are on the front of Goodbye Jumbo. Which is much the same thing.
Hidden messages? Fook knows.
Arthur Cowslip says
The Second Coming? Really?
I can’t see it. Do you have to look closely, or take a step back?
Arthur Cowslip says
Please don’t make me google this
minibreakfast says
I can’t see it either. And I looked really carefully.
Moose the Mooche says
How like life.
P.S. I’m referring to the second Stone Roses album, not the album WB Yeats recorded at Budokan.
Sewer Robot says
One of Isaac Hayes’ albums has a whole shaft on the cover…
Kid Dynamite says
It’s at about eleven o’clock to the smoking cherub
Kid Dynamite says
and the clock in the artwork has a different time on it depending on which territory you bought the album in…
Moose the Mooche says
Whatever time it is, it was four years too fucking late….
….not bitter. No.
minibreakfast says
Ah, the pig-in-a-blanket.
Moose the Mooche says
Perhaps my nomenclature was misleading . I should have called it a winkie.
Arthur Cowslip says
Oh good grief. I see it now.
Next question:
How do I unsee it?
Skirky says
This is all well and good, but they’re no Andrew Gold’s What’s Wrong With This Picture, are they?
Fintinlimbim says
There’s a right tit on the cover of the last Robbie Williams album.
Sniffity says
In LPs by the Baja Marimba Band, where the cover photo’s been taken outdoors, there’s usually someone in the background supposedly answering the call of Nature (their back is to the camera).
minibreakfast says
It was years before I noticed the image on Led Zep I was a bit rude, like.
Moose the Mooche says
The contrast between that and the image on the front of Second Coming is instructive.
minibreakfast says
I’ve shone a blacklight on the Blackstar sleeve and booklet. Apart from the glossy details of the artwork looking purple (as you would expect them too) there are no ‘hidden’ details that emerge.
Moose the Mooche says
Always looking for something shiny and purple, eh?
Oh dear, I feel a bit sick now….
fatima Xberg says
Every Paul Weller album has a Beatles hint in the artwork. Really.
Twang says
There was some 70s American band whose name escapes me who had a strange mountainous landscape on their album cover which it turned out was a closeup of a ladies’, well, you can probably work the rest out. Possibly an urban myth.
Moose the Mooche says
Cochise?
Harold Holt says
you may also be referring to Dixie Dregs, ‘What If’, with the Tommy Vance rock show theme on it. Or they may be two of many…
Twang says
Klaus Voormann’s signature is hidden in George’s hair on “Revolver”. Never noticed it till someone told me recently.
Moose the Mooche says
You could hide a lot in George’s hair in 1966, the wee tyke.
Rigid Digit says
The Beatles faces appear in the flowers at the edge of Their Satanic Majesties Request

Dave Ross says
This far through an album covers thread without Kevin Rowland or that woman sitting on the bog. There’s hidden “messages” in both of those…..
Moose the Mooche says
Yes. Kevin’s is, “I am a mentalist”
Sewer Robot says
“..and in the photo after this one you’ll get to see my ‘Red John'”
Moose the Mooche says
The idea of the Thankfully Not Living In Yorkshire It Doesn’t Apply Hitmaker being a maverick detective rather appeals to me.
“One more thing…. I don’t believe you really like Frank Sinatra “
Rigid Digit says
The Iron Maiden album Somewhere In Time contains a fair few self-references dotted throughout the sleeve, including the comment from the artist Derek Riggs “This is a very boring painting”
