We talked about this a while ago, I think, and a couple of people said they were going to try it out. I’ve ummed and aahed about it, but ultimately iTunes isn’t enough of a pain that I felt I absolutely had to do it. Give it one more upgrade and I might jump, but not yet…

I’d do it like a shot if it’s really as seamless as the article suggests. What worries me is iTunes is so flaky I’m worried just testing an alternative might derail it. But getting rid of it would be wonderful.

Depends what you want iTunes to do or what you are dissatisfied with?
If you just want a better interface, you could try Google Play Music. I think it’s much nicer to use than iTunes. As a bonus, you can upload all your music to google’s servers and get a pretty good facsimile of iTunes Match for free.
TBH the only issue i have with iTunes is it’s massive overcomplication because it insists on doing so many jobs. Works Ok in a bloaty sort of way, and doesn’t crash on my iMac.
I’ve never heard of Swinsian, but I’ve downloaded it and it seems to work OK. Not at all sure what advantages it has over iTunes yet bar simplicity. One (at least) disadvantage: It won’t transfer music to an iPhone. Not that you’d need that with Match or Play.
