Just when you think 2016 can’t become any stranger, Marillion’s new album F.E.A.R. has entered the album charts at Number 4. Their highest entry since 1987’s Clutching At Straws! No doubt it will plummet next week, but it’s good to see some prog back in the charts. I’m on the fourth listen and it’s slowly unleashing its charm.

Glad they are getting some good reviews and publicity. I’ve played it a few times on Spotify and it is a very fine album. I can’t decide whether to buy it on vinyl or CD.

I’m very much looking forward to seeing them play a couple of ‘tracks’ from the album in Leamington next week.
I’m a fan of 32 years’ standing and, as much as I love the band, I have increasingly found that recent albums offered diminishing returns and only a few things which really moved me.
This one, however, is shaping up to be a thoroughly wonderful record. I heartily recommend it.
Aside from “FEAR” (forgive them the rather poor album title), as a live prospect Marillion are still absolutely the best thing on which you could spend your money. Steve Rothery’s utterly glorious stupendousness has been a comforting constant throughout my mean little life.

I’m hoping to see them in Leeds when they tour, agree re the last few albums, but this one really does reward on repeated listens. Think the live shows will be fantastic, akin to The Brave Tour, special times for this band. This album would be a fitting way to end their career!
